Algolux, founded in 2015, is not yet particularly known in the crowded field of automotive computer vision. However, this startup from Quebec attracted the attention of investors. For example, last may the company raised $ 13.4 million. Not bad, considering the fact that no one knows about her yet. Today, Algolux introduced Ion, a platform that provides companies with a set of tools and a built-in software stack to help them create their own perception systems.

In fact, it is a “turn on and work” solution that is easy enough to integrate with other systems.

The Algolux system provides machine learning and computer vision technologies to users who want to create a comprehensive solution that includes both various regulatory acts and safety functions designed for systems operating in complex environments.

The company claims that Ion can be used to create more traditional systems or “radically new designs”. And this ability extends to any type of sensors, processors, and perception task. Ion relies on the EOS and Atlas neural networks, several different modules designed to fine-tune cameras. Developers are able to apply an integrated approach based on their individual needs.

Vice-President of the company Dave Tomic notes that the key difference between the company and its competitors is in some way “agnosticism” of the brand. This allows companies to use different products for different needs and reduce costs.

“Our Ion platform consists of tools (Atlas) and embedded software stacks (Osi) that uniquely provide a complete solution for creating perceptual systems,” he says. “The team can optimise and in-depth study of the perception sensors, and cameras (including planning and monitoring), obtaining better performance and avoiding the inefficient traditional design processes”.

There is a strong opinion that very soon such small startups for the development of computer vision and surveillance systems will create a network of “Big Brother”, from which it will be impossible to hide.
