How to install Android 9 Pie on Galaxy S9 and S9+

The launch of the final version of Android 9 Pie for the Galaxy S9 and S9+, held a month ahead of schedule, apparently turned out to be a test, since the spread began only in some European countries. In any case, this is evidenced by the reviews of many owners of Samsung flagship devices, complaining about the unavailability of the update. However, there are at least two ways to install Android 9 Pie before the update is available in your country.

The first way is the easiest.
How to download Android update via VPN

It is known for certain that Samsung has started distribution of Android 9 Pie for Galaxy S9 and S9+ in Germany and Liechtenstein. Fortunately, the manufacturer is based only on the actual location of the user and does not limit the availability of updates on the serial number of the model as Apple does in the case of the ECG application for Apple Watch Series 4. Therefore, users have a great way by activating VPN and changing their location, download the update and install it on their smartphone.

The only limitation is that most VPN services only provide 1-1. 5 GB of traffic for free, requiring you to pay for exceeding the set limit. Of course, you can always take advantage of completely free solutions, but in this case you will either be limited in download speed, or will not be able to maintain confidence that the VPN does not allow third parties to “read” your traffic, as is usually the case in such situations.
How to download the installation file of the Android Pie 9 for Galaxy S9

Another method is to update directly by downloading the installation file to the device from outside. For example, from SamMobile:

— Android 9 Pie for Galaxy S9 (G960FXXU2RCLI);
— Android 9 Pie for Galaxy S9+ (G965FXXU2CRLI).

The update is downloaded to smartphones via the Odin desktop application, which must be installed on your computer. Connect your smartphone to your PC in reboot mode (hold down the power, volume down, and Bixby keys to do this), then extract the firmware files you previously downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions to start the update.

We strongly recommend that you do not try to update your smartphone manually if you do not have the appropriate experience. In case of erroneous actions on your part, the device can turn into a “brick”.
